If you have oral surgery scheduled with us, we will do our best to give you all the information you need to prepare and be ready on the day of your procedure. Knowing exactly what to do, will reduce stress and anxiety over the surgery. Scheduling Oral SurgeryWhen you come to our office as a referral for oral surgery, we will schedule a consultation. Our surgeon will order a full set of x-rays to evaluate your situation and determine if you need the procedure. Once we decide to move forward with surgery, our staff will explain in detail what is involved and what you need to do to prepare for surgery. This is the time when you should ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable about this decision. We are here to put you at ease and comfortable with this critical step. Whether it's a cosmetic procedure or the surgery is necessary for your health and wellbeing, the preparation for the procedure is the same. Getting Ready for SurgeryDepending on what form of sedation dentistry you will receive, there are different ways in which you will get ready for surgery. If we only use a local anesthetic or laughing gas to make you comfortable during the procedure, the preparation is minimal. However, if we are putting you to sleep, there are some essential things you need to do.
You will also need a responsible adult over 18-years of age to give you a ride home if we put you to sleep. This person should stay during the procedure if possible. |
