 Many do not know that there is more than one type of dental implant that a person can get. When you come into our office, we will explain the types of implants that there are and which we feel would be the best one to recommend for you. The type depends on the specific needs that you have, or the ones that would work best with your mouth shape and size. Here is some more information regarding the more common types of dental implants and what to expect with each one. Types of Dental ImplantsEndosteal dental implants are usually secured by placing them in the jaw bone of the patient. They are placed there using titanium posts. They are also the most common type of implant and most successful for most patients.There are also subperiosteal dental implants that can be used in the mouth. These are placed under the gums in the mouth, but they are not placed into the jawbone. They sit on or above it instead. These are used for those that may not have enough jawbone to screw the implants into place with. The type of implant you get depends on many factors.
