How often should I brush my teeth?

Posted on 10/24/2022 by Dr. Michael Allard
How often should I brush my teeth? One of the basic dental hygiene practices is brushing teeth. It is effective in ensuring that you remove plaque on your teeth and wash away food particles that can remain after eating. Also, brushing your teeth cleans your gums, and disrupts bacteria accumulation which is the chief cause of dental decays and cavities. Therefore, you should ensure that you regularly brush your teeth to keep your mouth clean to avoid dental issues.

Brush At least Twice Daily

The recommended rate of brushing your teeth is twice every day. This can be in the morning and before going to sleep. You can also brush after a meal to remove the food particles that remain in the mouth. Our dentist advises against skipping your daily brushing as you could allow the build of plaque which can lead to tooth decay.

Reinforce the Routine with Regular Flossing

You can incorporate flossing with brushing as it brings its set of benefits. Your toothbrush can be ineffective in reaching some regions of your dental outline. For instance, your toothbrush may be unable to clean in between your teeth. This is where flossing comes in as you can clean your gums and in between teeth. With this, you can ensure that you maintain pristine oral condition.
