PRP Treatments in Glendale provided by at

Graphic image of tooth on blue backgroundPlasma Rich Growth Factor (PRGF) or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is an innovative method of stimulating the body’s ability to generate new tissue and heal more efficiently. In dentistry, it may be used to correct bone or gum loss, for example, using growth factors from a sample of the patient’s own blood. Safe and effective, PRGF/PRP can greatly improve patient recovery after dental surgery. If you have suffered gum loss or bone loss, schedule a consultation with Dr. Michael Allard for PRGF/PRP treatment. PRGF/PRP offers many benefits to our patients, including:
•  Derived from your own blood and not from a donor
•  Reduced healing times
•  Blood may be drawn and processed in our office
•  May be prepared during your dental implant or grafting procedure

How Does PRGF/PRP Treat Gum Loss or Bone Loss?

PRGF/PRP treatment is utilized in combination with other procedures for the soft tissue and bone to expedite the healing process. It will not independently generate bone or repair gum loss.

Dr. Allard will draw a sample of your blood via IV, in the comfort of our office. The contents of your blood sample are then separated by spinning the blood in a centrifuge. This allows Dr. Allard to isolate the platelets. Platelets are responsible for a variety of functions, which include the formation of blood clots to stop the bleeding and the introduction of growth factors into a wound. Growth factors generate new tissue to heal the injury. The components of the blood that stimulate the immune system response are filtered out, thereby preventing inflammation.

Other applications in which PRGF/PRP is implemented include bone grafting procedures, sinus lifts, and the placement of dental implants.

Why All the Excitement With PRP?

PRP allows Dr. Allard to utilize the patient's normal healing pathways at a greatly concentrated and accelerated rate. During the healing process the body naturally sends cells to the wound site to begin the healing process. PRP allows the transport of concentrated growth factors (GF), platelet derived growth factors (PDGF), transforming growth factors (TGF), and insulin-like growth factor (ILGF) to the wound site. These cells stimulate stem cells which assist in the healing process. Overall the patient is guided and allowed to heal faster and more efficiently!

Advantages of PRP:

Safety - As the source of the PRP is the patient's own blood, the procedure is safe and has no risk for disease transmission.
Convenience - As technology is now advanced, this procedure no longer requires a hospital setting.
Faster Healing - Serves to speed up the healing process through the concentration of the patient's own growth and healing factors.

PRP plays an important role in the healing process, for when it is mixed with the patient's own bone or with bone grafting material, it serves to increase the healing characteristics of the graft and allows for bone stimulation/growth and healing to occur.

PRGF/PRP treatment is a safe and effective method of improving recovery time in bone and soft tissue procedures performed to augment bone and correct gum loss. For your platelet rich plasma consultation in Glendale, AZ, contact Dr. Allard today.
